For my project I was inspired by the babydoll dress from Balenciaga as well as the style of Rei Kawakubo from her fall and spring collections in 1997. With the inspiration from the two designers, the garment that I’m focusing on is sleepwear. Nightgowns from the 20th century is what I used and recreated. With the recreation I made a destructed nightgown; to make is creepier I made a girlier nightgown that looks teared down. As well as the night gown, I made a babydoll coat that is distructed as well. The two garments contrast eachother in form and volume. I wanted to define the body in the dress with loose draping and create an oversized coat that covers the body, but still defines the silhouette of the body.
